So I got my new G15 keyboard the other day and can't get the software to work! It always crashes and all I get on the LCD display is "LCD Screen Saver". I can only access the profiler software if I end the task on LCDMon.exe, but then my LCD does not work :(

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling a thousand times and always the same result. It's not the hardware cause the software crashes even if the keyboard is not plugged in. I installed the software on 2 other PCs and it works fine! I can't figure out what would be causing this. I'm running the same OS w/updates as the 2 other PCs that it worked on.

Any ideas? I already updated all my drivers and such. I even did a selective startup and had practically nothing else running to make sure some other software I had installed wasn't conflicting.

System Specs:
Windows XP Professional, SP2

ABIT IC7-G Mobo
Pentium 4, 2.8GHz
4 Sticks of 512MB Corsair RAM
AGP GeForce 6800GT
SoundBlaster Audigy2 ZS
36Gig WD Raptors x2 running RAID 0
Sony DVD/CD writer
Dell 2005FPW
Razor Diamondback mouse

I have all the latest BIOS and Driver updates.

If anyone else is having this problem, post your specs. Maybe we have something in common that a driver or software is conflicting with the LCD software?

Can you access the LCD configuration through the icon in your control panel?! EH?! ANSWER ME!

Do you have problems with any other programs that we ought to know about? Mostly, anything recently installed.

Also, for a full reinstall, you should make sure you uninstall the device driver from the device manager, just to be safe, then uninstall all the software. Might be best to do that with the keyboard unplugged.

I can only access the LCD Control Panel if I kill the LCDMon.exe process first.

No other problems with any programs. My new Logitech joystick software installed just fine after I gave up with the keyboard and decided to play with that.

I did uninstall the keyboard from the device manager several times for reinstall attempts. Is there an LCD device listed somewhere in there that I can remove too?

I didn't see one, but I am on my laptop at work, so it's possible the devices aren't showing up anyway. Not sure where it would show up, but it might be worth checking under the monitors section and whatever else seems appropriate.

I had read a few places that people's conflicts were coming from LCDMon.

Is the device in the device manager showing as working properly or is there a code 10 or anything?

If your LCDMon seems to cause other stuff to lock up, then it's probably the same thing as reported here: http://www.g15forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=31

Keep yer fingers crossed for an updated software package...

Oh, the G15 has no special drivers. There's no INF or anything on the CD and all it uses are the drivers that ship on the Windows CD anyway. It's "just apps". Nice. No more worries about bluescreens ;)

I'll have to search through my device manager again when I get home. I'm also going to uninstall my SB drivers and card. Seems to be the only common thing I've found with other people who are having this same issue.

Everything in the device manager is showing as working fine.

My printer does have an LCD... I don't know if the printer drivers work with that too though or if it's all hardware. Either way, I'm gonna uninstall that too!

Most, if not all, printers are hardware controlled LCDs (OLED, LED, whatever you know?). But yeah, if there is no special driver to control stuff on the way out to the board then there you go. I am running a SB Audigy 2 Gamer with no issue. Just FYI.

What drivers are you using for your Audigy?

I'm having the same problem to. I managed to get lcdhype to work once, and only once, though.

Well I uninstalled my software/drivers for SB Audigy, HP Printer, and also Zone Alarm Pro... It worked! My LCD and the software work flawlessly now. I reinstalled my Audigy, but only the drivers and the LCD is still working.

Haven't installed the printer or Zone Alarm yet though. So, something must have been conflicting with it.

My gues, outright, is zone alarm. That thing is a piece of crap. Plus it doesn't do anything different from Windows Firewall. I KILL IT!

Plus, no one is trying to hax your gibs0n

This is seriously doing my head in...

I have practically spent all day uninstalling, reinstalling the software for the G15, uninstalled my soundcard drivers.. and STILL the software flickers on my desktop when I goto run it, then minimises to taskbar, then when I hover my mouse over the taskbar icon.... phut. it just dissappears.......

SOMEONE PLZ HELP MEEEEEEEEEE

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :D :D :D :D

Problem sorted.. It's easy to fix and I felt a right lumox for not thinking it before, I checked out the dlls in the program folder of the g15 and regsvr32 both of the dlls, but one of them would register but there was no load entry, the dll in question is the LGDRes.dll.

so run the software installer for the G15 and what you want to do when it asks you what you want the installer to do, click back which will take you onto the uninstall. repair or modify. select repair and Boom, there you go. You should now be able to run the keyboard profiler without it crashing at all.

I uninstalled the software and reinstalled the audigy soundcard drivers and went to reinstall the keyboard profiler software, and lo and behold. crash. so I did the same process as I mentioned before and now I have a nice new gaming interface :D
